Two legs of leadership
TWO LEGS OF LEADERSHIP
.............
One of the functional part of the human body is the leg. Our legs create movement, if one or both legs are cut off, movement is restricted. Also, movement will be by additional of someone's effort when those legs or one is affected.
I remember some years back when I had whitlow on one of my finger on my right leg, the pain and restriction of movement was something else. Though it was my right leg that was affected, but it affected the whole of my body system.
Don't let me bore you with the story. Let move on.
Legs of leadership
Like I said earlier that, Our legs create movement. Therefore, it applies to the life of a leader, when these two legs of leadership is faulty, then the leader remain stagnant until he or she find a way out to solve those faulty legs.
The following are legs of leadership:
1. Capacity: looking at the word leadership, some author will define leadership as the capacity or ability of an individual or an organization to lead some other group of people or team. That is where you will notices that the life of a leader will not be certified without capacity. Reaching full capacity involves other's capacity.
John C Maxwell said this "if you want to reach full capacity as a leader you need to engage others" engaging others is actually learning from their capacity because we can't say we have all the full capacity on earth, if we don't learn from other's capacity to gain full capacity as a leader.
2. Character:
"Ability or capacity may take you to the top but it takes character to keep you there" leaders, you are who you're today by your character. Our character is the foundation to everything we do (foundational to our thoughts, speech, actions etc.) and what we become. We have good character traits and bad character traits, when crises creeps in as a leader, our good character traits help us build on those crisis but with our bad character traits we fall.
Leaders! Your character is what keep you on top, emulate good character traits like trustworthy, kindness, honesty, etc.
Your capacity will build your character, your character will build your capacity..
Thanks for reading.
